The news making the rounds now is that award winning Nigeria musician and record producer, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over the death of his friend, Tagbo Umeike. The arrest followed as a result of Davido been called out on social media by Caroline Danjuma, the deceased girlfriend, for been responsible for Tagbo’s death. Tagbo was found dead in a Toyota Camry car which was parked in front of the Lagos Island General Hospital. Though, Davido has repeatedly denied and debunked the allegations levied against him in regards the circumstances behind the death of Tagbo, he was recently arrested by the police and arraigned before the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal, who interviewed him as part of the investigation and ordered that Davido be taken back to the division for further questioning.
According to Mr Imohimi Edgal while addressing journalists, disclosed that all parties involved in the case, which included Davido and his family, Tagbo’s family, the Area A Command4er and the Divisional Police Officer in charge, were invited and they requested for CCTV footages which indicated that Davido is allegedly involved and needed to be questioned. In his statement, Edgal said, “at the meeting, Davido nrepeatedly denied his involvement in the circumstances that led to the death of Tagbo Umeike. The CCTV camera at Shisha bar on Lagos Island showed the deceased in company of some friends. The CCTV camera also showed Tagbo standing and drinking from the bottle and he was also seen molesting some of his freinds. The camera also showed a white Toyota Hilux belonging to Davido being driven away by Davido’s escort driver, Tunde Yusuf and Agbaje Olaojo. Police investigation revealed that the deceased was driven in a Toyaota Camry and the Chief Security Officer of the Lagos Island Hospital identified the Hilux as one of the vehicles that accompanied the vehicle the deceased was found in. Based on the recent development, the DPO was asjed to invite Davido for another round of questioning.”
Two of the young men who dropped late Tagbo Umeike at the hospital on October 2nd have been arrested by the Lagos State police command. The men were arrested today after Davido brought them himself to see the commissioner of Police in Ikeja who then ordered their arrest following preliminary investigation. It’s been revealed that Tagbo died of suffocation.
