Several weeks back, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff,ABBA Kyari ,was announced to have tested positive to the Corona virus, resulting to news that he had been flown to Lagos for better treatment. Abba Kyari, who tested positive to coronavirus on March 23, had on March 29 issued a statement on his decision to move to Lagos for “further test and observation.”
The statement seemed to be the first official confirmation of his COVID-19 status since he was reportedly confirmed positive on March 23.
In his statement, he said; “I have made my own care arrangements to avoid further burdening the public health system, which faces so many pressures.
I have followed all protocols the government has announced to self-isolate and quarantine,” he said.
Though speculations were being made that he was flown abroad for treatment, but it was later gathered that he was being treated in a private hospital in Lagos.
Although Kyari did not disclose the hospital where he was receiving treatment, however, Premium Times had reported that he was being treated at First Cardiology Consultant (FCC), a highly sought after private cardiology-focused hospital located in Ikoyi, Lagos.
And just a few days ago, news that his situation had worsened was been circulated. On Saturday morning,Nigerians woke up to the news of his death in the early hours of saturday, as announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity,Mr Femi Adesina.
