It is no longer news that one of the illustrious daughters of Efon Alaaye, Efon LGA, Ekiti State,Princess Adekemi Adewunmi is one of the four women cleared to participate in the direct primary for the Ekiti governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party.
For those who know her,Princess Adewunmi is not new to the political scene,she joined PDP in October 1998,and in 2019,she ran for a seat at the federal assembly.
The 58-year-old Princess boasts of a sound pedigree as she holds an impressive educational CV as well.
She attended Ireti Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos State,Luba School, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State,St. Peter’s Primary School, Faji, Lagos State.
Her Secondary School first year was at Aunty Ayo Girls High School, Ikoyi, Lagos State,and after one year, she left to the UK in 1977,and enrolled into The Hall School, Wincanton, Somerset, England,Hamden House School, Buckinghamshire, England,North Corner College, Lewis, Sussex, England.
She is a graduate of, Associate of Business Administration from Schiller International University, London branch, England,and holds a second degree of, Bachelor of Science, Business Management (BSc) from The University of La Verne, La Verne College, La Verne, California, USA.
What has driven her to take this bold political step to run for the position of Ekiti Governor is her passionate vision for the State,namely:
- to reduce poverty and increase the standard of living of the people through a sustainable economic development.
Her mission to govern the state is based on the principle of fairness, justice and equity as laid down in the document for the agitation for the creation of the state in 1996.
According to her,her administration will be premised on the following seven point agenda to promote the socio-economic development of the state
Improve finding for
-More Government attention to
-Anti Curruption crusade
-Youth and women empowerment
-Provision of infrastructure
-Intergrated rural Development
Her mission is to provide credit facility to farmers to encourage them to remain in their farms to promote food security round the year.
-Provide farmers with higly subsidised inputs including farm tools and chemicals to inprove productivity.
-Farming will be made more attractive to young people by promoting skill acquision for farming.
She is promising the provision of free primary health care for pregnant women, elderly people, Children under the age of five and those unable to afford the the cost of medical care,with a determination to improve the condition of service of all health workers in the state.
Her mission will include providing drugs and medical equipment in all the health institutions in the state,as well as affordable and accessible health facilities to all citizens of the state.
Renovation of all existing health infrastucture in the state will be priority
For Education,her mission will also be the provision of qualitative education through the offering of free basic primary education for all children and also to renovate existing Classrooms, Laboratories in all Secondary schools in the state,while also providing one additional vocational training school per senatorial district.
“Regular training of teachers to promote efficiency in the service they render and the prompt payment of teachers salary will be effected,”said Adewunmi.
That’s not all.The payment of Jamb and NECO Examination fees for all students and the need to promote research and other international collaboration with foreign Universities in the State will form part of her vision to change the educational standard in Ekiti that has witness a decline for a while.
The mother of beautiful daughters,whom she had for the late Air Marshal Ibrahim-Alfa, from Garkida, Adamawa State,and who was former Chief of Air Staff, (who passed away on the 16th of March 2000),is quick to admit that she is up against Gladiators in the race for the Ekiti Governor’s seat. “it is not easy and it is hard work, but not a problem at all. This is something I have great passion for and believe in, and no one can stop God’s Grace and work.”explained Adewunmi.
