Buckingham Palace has released a statement to announce the death of British longest serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II, whose 70-year reign spanned wars, a pandemic, 13 presidents and the winding down of Britain’s vast empire, died peacefully this afternoon.
Before this news broke, the Queen was said to be under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Scotland,as her doctors were concerned for her health, while saying the 96-year-old monarch “remains comfortable”
All of the Queen’s four children and Prince William were in Scotland to be with her, with Prince Harry flying in to be there as well.

Since the announcement of the queen’s death, numerous Well-wishers have been gathering at the gates of Balmoral, as well as outside Buckingham Palace, in London.
Many of them have been there since she was said to be sick and concerns about her health began to filter out.
Her eldest son, Charles, is now king of the United Kingdom and its Commonwealth realms.
