Popular Yoruba agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Benin Republic.
According the breaking news, Sunday was arrested in Cotonou by Benin Republic’s security forces while he was trying to flee to Germany on Monday night.
The security forces in Benin Republic will be repatriating him to Nigeria on Tuesday.
His problem with his call for the creation of the Yoruba nation,escalating to the July 1 raiding of his Ibadan residence by The Department of State Services (DSS),while he was planning a ”Yoruba nation rally” in Lagos.
The DSS raiding of Sunday’s residence led to the killing of two people and arrest of 12 aides while Igboho escaped.
After the raid, the agency alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted.
The federal government had said Igboho was working at getting a new passport to flee the country for Germany,with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) placing a notice for his arrest across Nigerian borders.
His arrest is coming as a shock to many who are surprised at how the government were able to get Sunday.His lawyer has however come out to say that Sunday surrendered himself to the authorities.
